What is the cruising speed of a DR650?If you keep with the standard front sprocket distribution (i.e. 15/42), you can comfortably cruise at 100kph (60mph) all day. You can of course go faster, but you will get tired more quickly. The DR650 only has 5 gears and a big single-cylinder which is ideal for off-road (i.e. more torque at lower rpm).
How much horsepower does a DR650 make?According to the Dirt Rider automotive scales, the DR650S weighs 369 pounds wet. Seat height was measured at 35 inches. Wheeling it onto our in-house dyno, multiple pulls were conducted to determine peak horsepower and torque, where we documented 35.1 hp at 6,200 rpm and 32.2 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm.
Why the DR650 is the best?At its core, the DR650 is just a big ol' dirt bike, and as such, it's an incredibly capable and versatile machine off-road. It's got plenty of ground clearance, the perfect amount of power for technical trails, and a smooth and easy clutch that's predictable on any terrain.
