Giám đốc điều hành Amazon - Jeff Bezos.
Jeff Bezos hiện là giám đốc điều hành của Amazon.com - tập đoàn bán lẻ trực tuyến lớn nhất thế giới hiện nay.
Theo thống kê của Harvard Business Review [HBR], dưới sự điều hành của Jeff Bezos, giá trị của Amazon đã tăng thêm 140 tỷ USD và tổng lợi nhuận đem về cho cổ đông là 15.189%.
HBR cho biết để chọn ra top 100 CEO xuất sắc nhất thế giới tạp chí này đã căn cứ vào các số liệu như: lợi nhuận mà doanh nghiệp đó thu được, số cổ tức chia cho cổ đông hoặc tổng lợi nhuận đem về cho cổ đông cũng như giá trị vốn hóa thị trường của doanh nghiệp trong nhiệm kỳ làm giám đốc điều hành của vị giám đốc đó.
"Chúng tôi xem xét kết quả mà những CEO đã đạt được trong một thời gian khoảng 5 năm chứ không chỉ trong ngắn hạn. Đồng thời, chúng tôi cũng xem xét các con số một cách khoa học dựa trên cơ sở dữ liệu thu thập được, chứ không phải dựa vào danh tiếng hay bất cứ giai thoại nào", Adi Ignatius, Tổng biên tập của tạp chí Harvard Business Review khẳng định.
Để đưa ra bảng xếp hạng này, HBR đã đánh giá 832 CEO hiện tại của các công ty có tên trong S&P Global 1200. HBR tính toán mức lợi nhuận hàng ngày đem về cho công ty kể từ khi vị CEO nhậm chức cho đến ngày 30/4/2014.
Căn cứ vào đó, HBR đã xếp Zeff Bezos ở đầu danh sách, các vị trí tiếp theo trong top 10 lần lượt thuộc về John Martin [CEO của Gilead Sciences], John Chambers [CEO của Cisco Systems], David Pyott [CEO của Allergan], David Simon [CEO của Simon Property Group], Lars Rebien Sørensen [CEO của Novo Nordisk] , Hugh Grant [CEO của Monsanto], J. Michael Pearson [CEO của Valeant Pharmaceuticals], Mark Donegan [CEO của Precision Castparts], và William Doyle [CEO của PotashCorp].
Trong top 100 CEO xuất sắc nhất thế giới của HBR, có 29 người có bằng MBA, 24 người từng có bằng kỹ sư và chỉ có 2 người là phụ nữ.
HBR cũng cho biết, lương trung bình hàng năm các CEO Mỹ trong danh sách này 12,1 triệu USD, cao gần gấp 2 lần so với con số 6,4 triệu USD mà các CEO ngoài nước Mỹ nhận được. Trong đó, CEO nhận được lương cao nhất danh sách là Giám đốc điều hành Walt Disney Robert Iger, với mức lương 34,3 triệu USD/năm.
