A Tracker Template is a named list of trackers created within BiglyBT. Once defined you can manually merge, replace or remove a tracker template's contents from a download. You can also automate this process by using Tags.
To access the Tracker Template editor right-click on an existing tracker in the Sources tab of a download and select 'Edit Tracker URL[s]' or right-click on a download and select 'Tracker/Torrent->Edit Tracker URLs' from the menu.
You can also go to the 'All Trackers' view [see the View menu] and right-click to select'Edit Tracker Templates'
Automation
Tags can be used to automate the application of Tracker Templates, when a download is assigned to the Tag the contents of the template can be used to replace, add or remove trackers. See
Tracker List
A Tracker List is a source of [generally] public trackers that are either manually maintained in a file or fetched from a web site [and maintained by a third party]. These are supported within Tracker Templates - you can use the 'Add List' button in the template editor to insert one, use the right-click menu or manually insert by prefixing the actual list URI with 'trackerlist:'
For example:
trackerlist://a.b.c/list
will be replaced by the list of trackers downloaded from //a.b.c/list when the template is used.
To refer to a local file use a 'file:' URI instead. For example
trackerlist:file:///C:/temp/tl.txt
on Windows will result in the list of trackers in the file C:\temp\tl.txt being inserted.

It has become a more common practice to add additional torrent trackers to your torrent downloads in order to increase the download speed of your torrent files. Or, sometimes adding the trackers can help to unblock a stuck torrent file [when the download stops midway because there are no seeds who have all the files 100% downloaded].
In this blogpost, I share again a nice list of torrent trackers. My aim is always to have a solid list that you can use immediately because it is in the right format. It means the list below can be easily copy and pasted in your favourite torrent client. Also, the second aim is to have a list of trackers who are fully operational. Older trackers that no longer work did not make the cut and are not part of the below list. The third element is that the trackers are open to be freely used publicly without any special login or access. There is no paid membership or anything else which needs to be done in order to be able to utilise the trackers to help you torrent downloads.
Remind me again what is a torrent tracker?
To put it simply, a torrent tracker is simply a server on the internet that ‘understands’ the bittorrent protocol. This server is connected to all the seeds and peers of a torrent file, and will keep track of which peer and seed has which parts of the torrent file[s].
The tracker will ensure that everyone who wants to download the concerned torrent file, are connected to each other, so that the exchange of data can be take most efficiently.
How can a torrent tracker list help my torrent downloads?
Adding a sound list of torrent trackers to your torrent download is a good way to tell your torrent program to find more seeds and peers. These seeds and peers may have been unknown to your torrent download program before. If you add a list of new trackers, it means that more seeds and peers may start to upload their data to you: essentially you are increasing your downloading speeds on your side. Especially for torrent files with a big file size [such as linux distributions, or royalty free movies], increasing the incoming network traffic can save you some time overall.
What are the steps to take to add the torrent tracker list to my torrent program?
Adding a tracker list to your torrents is relatively easy. Yet, it depends on your specific torrent program that you use on your computer. It may be different on uTorrent versus Vuze or qBittorrent.
- Ensure there is an active torrent file in your torrent program
- Go to Trackers tab
- Click on Add Trackers [or it can be Right-click]
