New and enhanced features

  • New Tab in Statistics for VDI Information
    A new tab has been added to the Statistics dialog. The VDI tab displays specific information about your VDI session, including CPU and Memory usage on the thin client where the plugin is installed.
  • Mac ZoomVDI
    This release has been tested and updated for compatibility with the upcoming MacOS Monterey release.
  • Increased Emojis Reaction Set
    VDI plugins have been updated to support the full set of emojis that are now available in the core meeting client.
  • Zoom Phone Optimization for eLux
    Updates have been made for feature parity for Zoom Phone and VDI on eLux. Please note: You will need to make sure the Citrix feature for audio called VdcamVersion4Support is disabled for Zoom Phone optimization to work properly.
  • End to end Encryption for Zoom Phone
    Zoom phone now supports end to end encryption for all supported Zoom Phone optimization.

Resolved issues

The following issues were addressed in the release.

  • Share Session Frame Rate Reduced when Camera Active
    When both camera video and share session video was being sent by a VDI participant, the frame rate of the share session was reduced. The design has been changed to optimize the frame rate for the video being shared.
  • Statistics Display of Local IP Address for Zoom Phone
    Zoom phone now supports end to end encryption for all supported Zoom Phone optimization.
  • Detect Installation Error to Support Roll Back
    If an error occurred while copying files during installation, the condition was missed and the installer did not prompt for a rollback to the previous release. This has been corrected.
  • Archive Meeting Icon Missing in Speaker View for Linux
    An issue was resolved where the option to allow guests to archive audio was enabled but the button was not displayed for guests in speaker view.

  • UI Updates for Controls for Consistency with Standard Client
    Several graphic items were updated to match user interface changes made in the core client.

    Zoom Phone is now optimized to support sending audio from the latest plugin for VDI users using VMware VDI and a Mac thin client.
  • Support for Zoom Phone with WVD and Windows
    Zoom Phone is now optimized to support sending audio from the plugin for VDI users using WVD with the latest Windows plugin.
  • Coffee Cup Non-Verbal Feedback Graphic
    VDI Clients with the latest client and plugin release can both select and see the new coffee cup graphic added to indicate when someone is on a break.
  • Pronoun Support for VDI
    VDI clients with the latest client and plugin release can both configure and see pronoun additions for meeting participants.
  • Increased Watermark Visibility
    Changes were made to increase the visibility of the watermark indication. Both client and new plugin are required to see the changes.
  • Zoom Phone e911 Location Enhancement
    VDI clients with the latest client and plugin will now use the IP address of their plugin to determine location for e911.
  • Zoom VDI Tool
    Log collection in the Zoom VDI Tool has been enhanced to display more information about the logs available on the thin client side for VDI users with the latest plugin. The download speed for collecting logs is also adjustable for situations where attempting to download logs too quickly might overload the desktop connection.
  • Stratodesk NoTouch
    Changes were made to support compatibility with the Stratodesk NoTouch platform.

  • Support for Mac VMware plugin
    Zoom is pleased to announce a new plugin for the VMWare platform and Macintosh computers. This plugin is provided as a single installation download that will install the correct plugin for either older [x86] or newer M1 Macintosh computers [ARM-based processors].
  • Custom Filters
    VDI Clients can select and use custom filters provisioned on the web portal for images such as corporate logos. Both client and plugin must be updated to support this feature.
  • Customize Participant Layout in Gallery View
    VDI Clients with the latest client and plugin release can drag and drop to rearrange participants in gallery view.
  • Bandwidth Management via GPO policies
    Administrators can configure GPO policies to set the maximum bandwidth available for thin clients. Bandwidth restrictions policies can also be implemented to only apply to office devices, allowing home users to take full advantage of personal network capabilities.
  • Virtual background enforcement
    Account administrators can require users to use virtual backgrounds when their video is on, as well as set a default virtual background from the default or custom uploaded options. If the device does not meet the system requirements for virtual background, the user is not able to turn on their video.
  • Universal Zoom VDI Installer for the Citrix Mac Plugin
    A universal ZoomVDI installer is now provided for Citrix/Mac VDI plugins and will automatically install the correct plugin based on the detected x86 or ARM processor.
  • VDI Zoom Phone
    Configuration support for fallback modes when Zoom Phone optimization is not available is now supported with specific registry entries for Zoom Phone.
  • Fallback Mode 7
    An additional fallback mode option has been added to force participants using VDI who are not optimized to only join a meeting with the ability to view the share session. Audio and video are disabled when fallback mode 7 is enforced.

Media offloading of phone calls is supported in Direct-server mode, UDP mode, and ICA mode. Playback of recordings, voicemails, and local ringtones is supported, but not yet optimized for media offloading. Direct-Server Mode is not supported for phone system integrations. GPS location information and private IP support is planned for a future release.

  • Blocking or warning of unencrypted traffic
    All unencrypted Zoom traffic will be blocked from connecting to meetings or webinars. Other external unencrypted traffic, such as phone dial-in and RTMP streaming, will be allowed, but warn all participants that the meeting is not entirely encrypted due to unencrypted end-points.
