First batch from China. Think future firmware would improve on video quality. Anyway, Yi has good track record for releasing firmware to fix issues and improvements.

It's newer hardware specs VS the 1+ years old Yi dashcam hardware specs.
2.7K resolution vs 1080p. Got voice command.

Still same old lithium ion battery?
Btw, just curious, I am interested in getting a dashcam but I might not be using a car when I move to Singapore. Could it be used as an IP camera in the house for surveillance or something?

Yes still lithium battery.
It's a dashcam, not an IP cam.

I like both actually. If can wait, get the later batch of Yi dashcam King Edition as the first batch's firmware is not that stable. Hopefully, updated firmware will also have improved image quality too.

Alright thanks for your clarification! Its only the firmware update right? I dont think the first batch or second batch hardware spec will change?

Don't think the hardware specs will change. Most likely the firmware need improvements.

Price is around the same as this is to compete with Mijia.
Mijia is 1080p resolution and this King Edition is 1520p resolution.
I'm waiting for the firmware update for the King Edition first. Maybe if have time, will do a VS video.

All dashcams now have loop recording function where old files get overwritten first when full.

I bought mine last 11.11 for 430yuan + 10% discount but tomorrow 12.12 the price suppose to be even better, 399-30 + RM20 off [if pay with REVPAY and having Tmall points]. No problem thank work locally and come with English interface.Let me know if you wish for more info from me. Papago N291 //m.intl.taobao.com/detail/detail.htm...=499.00&from=h5

I have just received my unit. Trying the firmware upgrade as instructed here. //www.xiaoyi.com/yicarcam6/firmware.html
Problem is, no matter which way of the two [normal and emergency update] my unit will request for SD card format instead of Step 4 in the guide. The firmware upgrade doesn't prompt at all and ask for SD format
Am i missing anything not included in the instruction? current firmware is V 1.01.004

How about updating using the Yi dashcam app?
I know the latest version removes the english menu.
economist
Was there a prompt to change pw for the dash cam? I didn't get any
Also I seem to have problems connecting to it
2 out of maybe 10 times successful connection..other than that either can't detect via wifi or says pw incorrect
Using latest IOS

I changed to capacitor based dashcams since I got my A119 in 2016...
A119 is getting HDR in the coming firmware and the video quality will be improved.
If Malaysia has 4 seasons, I will use battery dashcams like this Yi King Edition

Yi launched the Yi Ultra Dashcam for the international market. The Yi King Edition is for China market.
So I'm thinking that Yi wants to separate the 2 so English menu for the Ultra and Chinese for the King.
Need to find back the previous version of firmware and manual flash.

Hi, thanks for the review of many dashcam. I'm looking to upgrade my Garmin GDR 45, with better IQ and WiFi function in mind.
Naturally i went and check out what's latest with Garmin and their expensive GDR E560 is serious very good.
However, after looking at what this can do, I think it made the Garmin really overpriced.
I'm also thinking of getting Sandisk High Endurance microSD for storage.

TS I have a noob question.
My car battery produces 12V, and during engine running with alternator charging, after using headlights and aircon, alternator and car battery together produces around 13V.
