Nars velvet lip glide roseland review

Velvet Lip Glides from NARS are a full coverage liquid lipstick with no gloss texture - just a velour matte finish. Other matte lip colours from other brands sometimes have a tacky, sticky or flaky feel after some time, but this Lip Glide doesn't develop this. It's a long-wearing matte colour that doesn't dry out or flake and is suitable for everyday with it's neutral colour palette of easy to wear shades for all skintones.

I used it everyday till the last drop!

i got this from an influencer job as i did for alot of different lip products when i was working in hong kong. this one has the best texture and best coverage. my lips have a slightly darker rim and it covers it perfectly. some other velvet liquid lipsticks like the YSL ones are tacky and sticky and uncomfortable. this one goes on smooth and dries smooth. its not gloss texture but more like a thick drier lip balm mixed with lipstick. no gross smell, easy to apply. everyday use for a natural look.

I received this lovely little sample-sized Nars Velvet Lip Glide with my Mecca delivery. I honestly wasn’t too keen on the colour when I took it out of the box at first, but was eager to try seeing as I hadn’t tried any Nars lip products before. As you can see, the packaging is a plain see-through container with the signature black lid with the printed NARS logo.

It comes with an soft-looking flat applicator which feels lovely on your lips. The shape conveniently allows you to line your lips and give them a nice shape before you fill them in.

Above shows the consistency of the formula which I’m in love with. It’s thick, buttery and has a slightly glossy texture when first applied and dries semi-matte but isn’t dry-looking at all. You can see pics of it applied to my lips below. I’d say that the formula is comparable to that of Mac’s whose lipsticks are around NZD$35 and lip laquers around NZD$50.

There is a cocoa-ish scent which I can’t articulate, but it’s not strong nor sickening.

Not the biggest fan of the shade, but I do like how natural it looks. It’s unlikely that I’d go out and purchase a full size as I can’t picture me ever using it up… I’ve noticed that I literally use my lip products a handful of times before I forget about them. However, for those who are more consistent in their lipgloss/lipstick use, I would highly recommend this.

NARS recently came out with five new shades in their VELVET LIP GLIDES and after seeing the colors, I had to give them a try. The colors run on the rose and dusty mauve spectrum, which are my favorite shades to wear and ideal year-round. I also have and love BOUND [soft rose pink] and these new shades have the same vibe. The glides are $26 each.

All the lip glides tout a satin finish and feel light and non-drying, while having pretty good lasting power. They’re supposed to glide like a gloss but offer coverage like a lipstick. You still have to re-apply midday, I’d say, but the color is rich with a little bit of shine and really beautiful.

The formula is developed with precious oils to create a smooth, moisturizing glide, while an infusion of water lily flowers and white tea extract offer antioxidant protection and hydration.

The new shades are:

  • ROSELAND – rose blush
  • SWING – neutral rose
  • XENON – dusty mauve
  • PARADISE GARAGE – soft plum
  • MARS – warm brown

I love all the colors, it would be hard for my to pick a fave, although I’ve been wearing PARADISE GARAGE and ROSELAND most perhaps. I didn’t pick up MARS because I usually don’t wear browns. Also, I feel like ROSELAND and BOUND are similar, with ROSELAND looking like a deeper rose. XENON and SWING are somewhat similar, but on, they look a bit more different with XENON looking more mauvy.

If you are a fan of this shade range, you really can’t go wrong with any one of these. I love how light they feel, how they have a little sheen to them, but most of all, these colors are just so pretty and versatile!
