Laptop hinge popping

Just the past hour i noticed this, when i open it, pic related happens! I think it's the back of the laptop that's coming off or the top of the split you see here. I have inserted a link, yeah it's a bit dusty with the phone light on. Is this a big job to fix? i know as a fact that if i continue to use this laptop, it's only all down hill from here. I hope it's only a matter of opening it up and tightening a screw but i'd doubt it with my luck. Model: Acer Predator Helios 300 g3-571

thanks!

It's hard to tell unless someone is familiar with the model [you haven't told us anything about the laptop]. Most likely, if it's not something simple like a screw, it may be physical damage that's not practically repairable. A lot of times, that's just something that snaps into place and if it no longer does it, then it won't ever.

What is that, sand? How'd you get that much externally into the hinge?

Oh, it's an acer predator helios 300 g3-571, forgot to mention. I wouldn't like to have to pay for a new front bezel or back lid of the laptop as they aren't all that cheap. I may eventually remove the front bezel and try to tighten screws but it probably is a clip which will be unfortunate. About the dust / sand, don't even ask because i have no idea. It's harder than it looks to clean it fully so i've just left it as it is, lol.

In all the laptops I have disassembled there is usually just a clip holding that together. The screws on the bottom are generally just keeping a back cover on. It's hard to tell from that one pic the exact area you are talking about. I do have two suggestions:

  1. Dust/sand like we are seeing in that pic needs to be eliminated.
  2. Google "acer predator helios 300 disassembly" for some decent videos on where you will need to look to check that loose area.

I see that a lot when someone ran the wires going through the hinge incorrectly. Open it up and tidy up the wiring, then it should stay snapped down.

Took a look at the wires, they seem to be in place. It snaps but doesn't stay down. Opened the impaired hinge bezel up and 2 pieces came out. One of them may have been from me but it's a less important clip up above. Had a look around and because i'm unfamiliar with how it looked like when it was fine, so i just tried to see if anything was 'broken' in the problem area. It did seem a few plastics were exposed or severed, but not entirely sure. Added a few images. Sorry they're not entirely clear ;[ Would i be wasting my money if i got a new front bezel Added a few images. View: //imgur.com/a/2QMsgYB

Now that you have it open, clean out the stuff on/in it. From the fact you said some plastic parts fell out and the look of the plastic bits, looks like something broke. If the parts don't flex around much when you open/close the lid and use the system, you can leave it as it is.

New laptop, first step is contact HP support. Although since you are in a different country that is probably going to be an issue unless you happen to know they support international use of systems. Often you need to ship the system back to the country it was purchased in. Make sure the power adapter you have works on your electrical grid properly, compare the specs. You may need to check around to see if you need an adapter.

If you don't care about the warranty, take it apart, re-do the thermal paste with some good quality stuff [I use Noctua, cheap and close to the much more expensive stuff], make sure all fans are working, check system after that.

Hello, First time I post here and I want to ask something. Is there any chance I can fit a 50 pin keyboard ribbon into a 40 pin socket on the laptop's motherboard? Is there any adaptor for that? Or can I install a 50 pin socket [there is place on motherboard]?

Thanks in advance.

The only possible way you can get a ribbon converter if you can find one made for the keyboard you have to work specifically for the computer model you have. You can't just cut out pins from a keyboard and expect it to work fully unless someone already tested and checked it for compatibility. It would be even harder to install a new keyboard interface, if you have to ask if you can do it, you won't have the knowledge or tools to do it. You'd have to pretty much take apart the motherboard and add new connections to it, you may as well just start out with parts and build a motherboard on your own.

Hi, I replaced my laptop's original keyboard with a cheap one made in China. Now I have the following problem: The new keyboard works fine for 5-10 minutes and then it stops working. I have to restart my laptop in order to make it work again. Restarting every 10 or so minutes is getting really annoying. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem and how to fix it? Thanks!

My laptop is HP 15-ac005nu. I am running Windows 7.

Cheap products from China doesn't neccesary go through any quality programs before shipped out.

You may just buy a normal usb keyboard to get any use of the laptop.

I fully understand this. Unfortunately, China is the only place that sells HP 15-ac005nu replacement keyboards.

Anyway, I wonder what could be causing the problem. Maybe the new keyboard requires a special driver???

0

No, driver is not the issue here. If that is the case, then the keyboard shouldn't have worked at all in windows.

0

Yeah, really puzzling... if it was a hardware issue then it shouldn't work and get recognized at all.

My laptop is showing black and white dots. What happened was, my processor fan was not working, so I hit the laptop as that problem was very frequent and hitting it would solve it but one day, I hit it and the screen went blank. I panicked and force restarted. The reboot was perfectly fine but when I opened a game, it started showing black and white dots. I again panicked and looked online for help and found that there might be a problem with the graphics card. So what I did was go into the device manager and disable the display driver of my AMD graphics card. The dots disappeared but I cannot play the game as now the game was running on intel and it was so slow[I couldn't play a game running at around 10 fps or even low].

I just want to play my games, can you please tell me what is the problem with my laptop. Any kind of help is appreciated. [It's my first time in this site and didn't know where to post it, so I just posted here]. [ I don't even know how to post a screenshot in this, so sorry if I cannot provide you with a screenshot]

I need a Screen[monitor] , two Hard drives , a battery pack, and a cheap copy of windows

Could you recommend a web site where i can get the list of shopping items that i need

0

You don't need to purchase a copy of Windows.
The laptops almost certainly had an OS on there originally. A reinstall of that will activate, without purchasing a new license.

could you recommend a web site where i can purchase the parts?

also , thanks for responding

My laptop won't start after deleting W8 and trying to install W10.

I deleted everything on W8, restart the computer to use BIOS to boot W10 installation but the laptop never start more, no charging, no leds, nothing. I cancel an "Flashing" or "Erupting Flash" i dont know. I made this because i had to go to sleep

I have Satellite S55t-c5168- 4k. After replacing the hard drive and install windows 10, the function buttons, like sound and light adjustments, didn't work. Any suggestions how make them start working again?

Did you install all the drivers for the laptop? [Specifically those from the laptop manufacturer's site.] Would be the first thing I'd check.

0

I checked them but I don't know which I should pick and install. Can you guide me please?
