YSL La Nuit de L'Homme EDT [current] -

I have no reference to vintage, but I'm perfectly happy with the current version. I have read plenty-o tales of whoa about reformulation, lack of projection, blah, blah, blah. That's cool; I just want it to smell good on and around me.

The opening is spicy and bright, and then after warming up a bit, the darker "La Nuit" vibe begins to make its move. This juice made its bones as being the easy reach for date nights, correct? Well then, skin scent me, thank you very much.

3.5 / 5 stars

La Nuit de L'Homme was released in 2009 and was one of the first fragrances I got to experience, and I had no idea how lucky I was at the time.

...

Le Fantôme de La Nuit de L'Homme is all we have left. 65% of the DNA is still there, which is somehow still leagues better than the best sellers we have nowadays.

This fragrance feels a bit overrated to me, but I haven't smelled the original formulations, so I'll never understand the hype. The cardamom or lavender doesn't really smell realistic or natural to me, but the combination is okay. There's a bit of a powdery element, but it's just the softness of all the notes mingling together.

There are far better scents that recreate the note of lavender or cardamom. This might be one of the scents that gets you into fragrances, and you can either stop there or continue finding better ones. For the average guy, I wouldn't complain if this was their signature scent. It's decent for every season except for summer, and maybe you can sneak a spray in during cool summer evenings or nights.

You'll be able to find this at nearly every store, so test before you buy. I would give this an average rating. It will work fine as a gift.

Ignore the bad reviews. This fragrance is still mighty fine. The dry down is special and unique. In a way, I’m glad some crazy people hate it now since the reformulation because it just means there’s more for me to have. It’s best to pair with the same La Nuit aftershave. With the aftershave, it becomes a bit more masculine and it contributes to a stronger projection but not too much. It’s obvious to me that fragrance reviewers suffer from olfactory fatigue. If you’re not the neurotic elitist type, this EDT smells fantastic and I think the price is fine especially if you get the 6oz. I like the opening and it really is a skin scent which is not a bad thing especially for a darker sexier fragrance. The dry down is lovely and your significant other will want to be close to you [see why skin scents are a good idea?], If you can pair it with the aftershave balm that comes in the glass bottle, I highly recommend the combination. I haven’t tried the aftershave lotion but it should have the same enhancing effects as the balm.

A great fragrance, masculine, refined, sexy. The opening with that cardamon is amazing, tempered with some bergamot it is perfect. As it dries down it takes on a somewhat powdery character to my nose, almost like tonka or musk, although they are not in La Nuit de L'Homme. Possibly I am getting the lavender with the warmth of the amber. Either way it works very well. This is a fragrance that I would definitely buy again and keep as a regular in my stable. It is a very good date night fragrance but it is not too bold to wear at work. It lasts about 4 or 5 hours of my skin projection is average for the first couple of hours then it remains close to the skin. So overall, an excellent scent, reasonably versatile with average performance. It also garners some compliments occasionally.

When it first came out, oh my God... Worth every dollar. I have recently bought another bottle and was very disappointed. It feels like it has been dilluted, like when you add too much water to an orange juice. No sillage to it whatsoever. I have to smell it directly from my skin and it smells like it was sprayed yesterday. The price is ridiculous. RIP La Nuit De L'Homme! Look how they massacred my boy.
