I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. When a user shares their results on Facebook, is it possible to alter the text that appears in the preview box of the website? I am not be using the correct terms, please forgive me! This may also not be something with HD Quiz, but if anyone could help, that would be great.

Hi Matt,
there are two types of Facebook sharing. Normal, and with an app ID.If you are not using an app ID, then the text that Facebook grabs to share does not come from HD Quiz, but comes from the actual page.
Its a bit more complicated than this, but generally speaking, the share title will be your meta title, the content will be your meta description, and the shared image will be whatever you have your featured image set to. Most SEO plugins [All in One SEO, YOAST, Rank Math etc] have ways for you to customize this on a per page basis.
If you ARE using the app ID, then Im afraid that the only way to change the share text is to edit the plugin files directly. If you are comfortable with this please let me know and Ill let you know that file and line to edit.

Thanks for the response.
I changed the meta description for the page that the quiz is currently on, and it did not update. I am also getting a different result between Facebook and Twitter. Thoughts?

Can you please post a link to a quiz? There are literally hundreds of things that could be causing this, but I can let you know specifically what to do If I can see a live quiz.

OK, thanks Ive taken a look and know whats going on now.
So you are not using the APP ID which means that HD Quiz has ZERO control over what Facebook grabs to share. You have YOAST installed, so you can configure what information social media sites grab from there.
If you view source on that page, you will see the following: //i.imgur.com/OxHran2.png and as you can see that is where Facebook and Twitter is getting the information from.
Just note that there is another catch to all of this. Sites like Facebook and Twitter cache the results so that they dont have to check your site every time someone shares an article. Im pretty sure that this is why when you share on Facebook, you are seeing the older info.

As you can see, Facebook is taking the title from the og:title tag. However, Facebook is using an older cached version Do you know what your premiums pay for? even though the actual tag currently says Truth About Insurance.
How to fix? Just wait. Facebook clears out its cache every once in a while and it will eventually fetch the data fresh again. You can also try to use that above tool to click scrape again every once in a while and see if you get lucky and are able to force Facebook to grab fresh data.

No problem. Also, a little trick is to change the page URL this way facebook will grab a brand new URL that has not been cached yet. Right now your slug is set to quiz, but changing it auto-insurance-quiz might be better. Just an idea.
