How do you change the scale in Revit?

For those of you who are new to Revit, there are many hurdles to overcome when working with documentation. We’ve all run into the issue where we want a drafting view title or titleblock to say “SCALE: NONE” or “SCALE: N.T.S”. This is a simple task, however not very obvious in Revit. Click the scale menu (it most likely currently says 12″ = 1′-0″). It is the small button on the bottom left corner of your view window. Select Custom… at the top of that menu. In the Custom Scale dialogue box, you will see the ratio field, typically set to 1:1 for diagrams and details. Check the field below to enter a custom display name. Now your titleblock and view titles will show the custom display name that you set. Many Revit users have asked as similar question with regard to how to change the scale of a Revit Fill Pattern. To explain we’ll use and example of a footing and to add a filled region around a footing to display earth fill. Once the Filled Region is added you can see that the Fill Pattern scale is too big. To adjust the scale of a Revit Fill Pattern you need to open the Fill Pattern Dialogue box found at: Manage tab-> Additional Settings -> Fill Patterns. See below.  To scale a Fill Pattern you need to re-import the pattern into Revit with a different scale. So to do this you’ll do the following in the Fill Pattern dialogue box: Click New-> Custom ->Import. See below. This will take you to a Windows Explorer browser which you then browse to the install directory of Revit which is typically: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2015\Data. In this folder you will see then select the Revit.pat file. Select the Earth fill in the white area. Now change the name of the fill to say ‘Earth small’ and also change the Import Scale to say 0.25. See below. Then click OK. You have now created a new smaller scaled Earth Fill Pattern to be used in your Fill Region. So double click the Fill Region object in your Section or select it and click Edit Type button on the properties box. Change the Fill pattern to Earth Small. See below. How can I change the scale in Revit?In the Project Browser, right-click the view, and click Properties. On the Properties palette, for View Scale, select a value. Select a scale from the View Control Bar.
Can you rescale in Revit?You can adjust the size and scale of elements graphically or by entering a scale factor. You can resize multiple elements simultaneously. The Scale tool is available for lines, walls, images, links, DWG and DXF imports, reference planes, and the position of dimensions.
