After a good training session, there’s nothing quite like downing a shaker of whey protein to help repair and grow those tired, aching muscles. If I’m completely honest with myself, I don’t get much real protein down my neck on a daily basis. I have chicken every now and again and I don’t like fish. Of course, I get a bit of protein through what I eat day to day, but I always find that a good whey protein shake just ticks those boxes that I lack and gives me the protein that my muscles desire. There’s many different supplement companies out there producing their own proteins in a variety of tantalising flavours, but in this review, I’ll be giving my opinion on the Strawberry Cream flavour of Myprotein Impact Whey Protein.
Myprotein Impact Whey Protein
Impact Whey Protein is Myprotein’s premium whey protein powder, providing 82% of protein in unflavoured batches of its powder, with around 79% for flavours such as the Strawberry Cream which I’ll be testing. Chocolate flavour is around 76% of protein due to the added cocoa flavouring, therefore I’d likely suggest a flavour other than that. Myprotein Impact Whey Protein is available directed from Myprotein.com in two different weight pouches, 1kg ands 2.5kg, in a choice of unflavoured or 19 flavours including Strawberry Cream.
Myprotein Strawberry Cream won’t be on the top of your list. After finishing an entire 5-pound bag myself, I can say it doesn’t taste the best. However, don’t count it out just yet. There are still some people who love this flavor and swear by it.
Are they right or are they crazy? Let’s find out below.
Water
In water, this gives off similar characteristics to other strawberry-flavored protein powders. I don’t know what it is, but from the ones I’ve tried [including this one], they all have a strong artificial/chemical taste. It didn’t make me want to spit it out, but it’s definitely not the “strawberry cream” flavor you’re expecting. If I had to compare this to something, it’d be strawberry-flavored cough drops or cough syrup. Overall, not the best, not the greatest. However, I can get it down without flinching.
I expected this to be more like strawberry milk given the added “cream” part to its name, but there’s none of that. Maybe mixing it with milk will help?
Milk
In milk, Strawberry Cream takes a turn. Although, we’re still dealing with a little bit of that artificial/chemical taste. The milk helps a lot with masking it and makes the shake taste a whole lot better. Only now can I see this flavor living up to its name. With milk, it’s creamy and smooth with a subtle strawberry sweetness that I can get behind. It has a Nesquik strawberry milk flavor but is quickly interrupted with its artificial aftertaste. But again, it’s not bad and I can easily find myself drinking it every day. Definitely an improvement from solely using water.
Milk And Banana
Blending Strawberry Cream with milk and a banana did no justice to this protein powder. You get a nice creamy and sweet shake, but like all the other times, the artificial taste still seeps through and takes over. There’s no avoiding it, it seems. But in milk and a banana, it’s the most dulled and is my preferred way to take this protein.
Mixability
MyProtein Strawberry Cream is very easy to mix. No matter your blender bottle, you shouldn’t come across any protein shake clumps. I shook mine in a regular bottle without the ball whisk and it mixed just fine. The same thing even with milk although it took some aggression. As long as the ball whisk is inside, you’re good to go.
After finishing a 2lb bag of this whey, it hasn’t grown on me. The taste is the same and the best you can do with this is try blending it with different fruits to try and hide it.
MyProtein Strawberry Cream is not a flavor I would buy again.
But if it’s there, I won’t have any issue drinking it.
Strawberry-flavored protein powders are usually never that good to begin with, despite the brand. So you can’t really expect too much here. Compared to some others I’ve had, Myprotein Impact Whey has a fairly decent taste.

Banana is my juice
I find this a great tasting powder. I often make a batch of rice pudding for a late snack and like to.mix this in. Add in some fresh figs and an Atkins choc coconut bar... winner winner.
Nice protein
Great tasting protein at a good price. I'm keto so I make pancakes by adding 2 scoops with 2 whole eggs and a splash of almond milk into my little blender and cook them up in the pan. They fall apart a little bit but they taste great and fill you up.

Tastes horrible
Bought 2kgs of Vanilla WPI. Istg it tastes horrible. Tastes like soap. Leaves a very weird aftertaste. It was a little bit more palatable with milk but big no with water. Mixes well but that’s about it. If you want a cheap WPI go for it but be prepared for the horrible taste.
