HP laserjet printer P1102W not allowing to connect to mac OS 10.8

i recently purchased an HP laserjet printer P1102W and am having issues connecting to my mountain lion macbook pro. any suggestions?

One of our Windows 10 office workstations has an HP 1102-W printer directly connected via USB. This printer has been connect for quite some time, including when running Windows 7. Last week, it suddenly had problems printing and being able to access the printer via Printers and Scanners.

When selecting 'Hardware Properties' for that printer I get, "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer (Code 45)." But it is because we can still print sometimes.

When selecting 'Printer Properties' I get, "Function address 0x000000018007260C caused a protection fault (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed."

I understand some of yous are losing wireless connection with the p1102w and some aren't able to reconnect to the wireless network again.

For not be able to reconnect back to the wireless network try these steps.

I would recommend to reset the printer.

https://www.hpsmart.com/us/en/wireless-printing/wireless-connection-issues/improve-wireless-communic...

After the reset, disconnect the routers power cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cable. Wait till it's ready.

Plug the printer back into the computer with the usb cable.

Print out a configuration report and make sure the ssid and ip address are cleared. (hold down the x button and when the printer makes a noise let go)

Since the software is already installed then I would setup the wireless again by connecting the printer by usb to the computer.

Then go to start, all programs, hp, laserjet, wireleless configuration wizard, follow the steps to setup the wireless. (make sure the computer is on the correct network)

Then try and print.

I would setup a static ip to resolve the issue for losing the printer over wireless.

Go to Step six: Assign your HP product a static IP address https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05368548 (Link Updated 05/01/2017) (step 4. set a manual ip, just type in the manual ip address from the new configuration page. Subnet mask and gateway is also listed on the configuration page if not automatically filled in.

If you want to update the printers firmware, follow Step three but make sure you connect the printer by usb when updating the firmware and in the list select usb not wireless.

Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.

Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared. (hold down the x button and when the printer makes a noise let go)

Temporarily connect the USB cable to this computer.

View all the Apps on the computer or do a Search. Look for the HP Laserjet Software and select the Wireless Configuration.

Run through the wizard to reset up the printer on the network. Disconnect the USB cable and test the printer.

Try printing again.
