You use Illustrator CS5, the vector-graphics editing software from Adobe, to create high-quality and print-ready graphics. Although Illustrator was not designed to work with PowerPoint 2010, the presentation software from Microsoft, you can make it export high-quality images that can be imported into PowerPoint. You must ensure that properties of the exported image, such as color space and format, are suitable for PowerPoint. Converting complex Illustrator documents to PowerPoint is not difficult.

  1. Launch Adobe Illustrator CS5 and open the document you want to convert to PowerPoint.

  2. Click "View" at the top and select "Actual Size" to make sure the document is not zoomed or scaled.

  3. Click "File" at the top, select "Document Color Mode" and click "RGB." By default, Illustrator uses the CMYK color space, which is not suitable for PowerPoint.

  4. Click "File" and click "Export" to start exporting the document. The Export window pops up.

  5. Select "BMP" in the Save As Type drop-down box. BMP files are fully compatible with PowerPoint 2010.

  6. Type a name for your new file in the File Name text box, select a folder in which to save the image and click "Save." The Rasterize Options window pops up.

  7. Select "High (300 ppi)" in the Resolution section to make sure Illustrator outputs a high-quality image. You can resize it later in PowerPoint.

  8. Select "None" in the Anti-aliasing drop-down box and click "OK." The BMP Options window pops up.

  9. Select "Windows" in the File Format section and "32 Bit" in the Depth section and click "OK." The Illustrator document is exported as a high-quality BMP file.

  10. Close Adobe Illustrator.

  11. Launch Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 and open your presentation.

  12. Select a slide from the left pane.

  13. Click "Insert" at the top of the PowerPoint window.

  14. Click "Picture" at the top, select the BMP file you saved earlier and click "Insert." The image is inserted in the slide.

  15. Resize and reposition the image to meet your needs and press "Ctrl-S" to save the presentation.
