A wingèd cat (perhaps a bit more like a lion cub, with larger, stronger limbs than a cat, proportionally, but roughly the size of a house cat) with wings and a somewhat humanoid face. At least, that's how I imagine him. So he was trotting on all fours. (Why does that idiom pluralize "four" - seems bizarre.)

Korean and Japanese beauty bring us some of the best skincare products - effective, beautiful, and affordable. And yet there are plenty of fun, seemingly gimmicky options as well. Occasionally, I can’t help myself and purchase something silly. When I saw Pelican Loving Butt Hip Care Soap on YesStyle (reward code KBHOBBIT), I couldn’t say no. It’s also available on Amazon and Stylevana (code INF10KBH).

The official description of the product is why I bought it: “peach-scented soap caters to the hip area, removing dirt, dead skin cells and bad odor for a smoother bum area! Infused with peach extract and konjac to brighten and exfoliate skin.” Who wouldn't want a smoother, brighter, peach-scented bum? Sign me up. Brighten all the things!

How to use

I typically write my own “how to use” section, based on both brand recommendations and personal experience. However, the official instructions for this soap are too good not to include verbatim:

“Wipe the soap thoroughly, and when you spin the parts of the posterior thighs and thighs, carefully slide it so that you draw a circle. After that, rinse with lukewarm water.”

I just get the soap wet and use it directly on the areas that need both washing and exfoliation. For more sensitive parts like armpits, I create a lather in my hands and then use the palms for the actual washing.

My impressions

Did I buy this because of the name and appearance? 100% I did! But it’s also a pretty good product that I actually use. The soap has small but noticeable exfoliating inclusions that feel nice (and not irritating) when massaged over the body. Despite it being specifically designed for certain assets (tehee), I also use it on my arms and legs to gently exfoliate, especially before hair removal. I enjoy the mild peach scent and the soft lather.

I don’t think I’d repurchase it, because at the end of the day it’s just scented soap with a few scrubby inclusions, but it was definitely a fun thing to try. Plus, I can see this being a hilarious present for a close friend or relative. I giggle every time I look at it, and laughter is the best well-aging treatment.
