Hi, I've got a question involving chargers. I have 2 Laptop charges one for my Asus K53S laptop and the other for someother old PC. They have the same Voltage. However they have a different Amps. My Asus Charger has 4.75A But the other charger has 1.58A. So can I charge my PC with the non Asus one too?

Thanks

Stick with the charger supplied with your Asus laptop, assuming it works & does the job I don't understand why you'd want to use a different one anyway.

If it doesn't work then buy a replacement which matches all the input/output specs of the Asus one.

If it have same charging connector, then you can charge it as long as voltage and polarity is same, polarity should be marked by + and - in circles on both sides of -(o- symbol near voltage. If it have different current, in your case lower, then you can charge it only in turned off state, as it does not give enough power for both running and charging.

Mister_MO is correct as long as you adhere to his suggestions, however, I would point out that the higher amperage one would work for both, but the lesser amperage one may only charge the battery and not drive the laptop that came with he higher amperage power supply.

This isn't true. This will only happen if the voltage is different. The worst that could happen if you have different amps is wreck the charger (check for overheating). You mentioned that the amperage was lower on the other charger meaning that you would break the charger. If the amperage is higher then it would be fine. Try and get a charger with the same amperage and voltage and also make sure the polarity is the same.
