Spent almost two hours trying to speak to a representative to make a minor change in my policy - I made a typo in my name and could not correct online and customer service wouldn’t respond to emails or let me speak to a representative. Therefore, I cancelled the policy. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to file a claim.

I am an Airbnb Superhost of 8 years

I am an Airbnb Superhost of 8 years. Never had a claim. I filed for a ruined top of the line mattress which was heavily urinatec on. The agent who called me says he’ll send an email. I never receive an email. So, I call Airbnb to be proactive & they said they’d reach out. The same agent called me three weeks later & said ‘I never calked you’. My husband sat right next to me for both calls. The agent was rude, condescending & literally talking down to me. On the third call I asked to speak to a supervisor & he said ‘I’ll send you what I think you deserve & hung up’ Save yourself & never use them for your rentals or any travel insurance. They are in the business of not paying!

DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY. Their representatives say different things. Their representatives will not answer your calls, or email you back promptly. I dealt with multiple people at this company and they all evade, deflect and ignore. I field a claim in October and I am still dealing with them in January. They ask for files you have already submitted. They can not do math. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Most insurance is a scam and that is all this is!

They lost my claim 2x and I never recooped a penny!

I purchased this travel insurance for a trip to New Zealand and when the airline (Air New Zealand) decided to cancel our return flight, I filed a claim with Generali to help us out and they didn’t even follow up on the claim. It just disappeared. There was no good way to contact their customer service department. So we ended up paying out of pocket and figuring it all out ourselves.

I got an email about 4 months later out of the blue asking for me to resubmit all my documents again. I sent them everything (this was about 4 months ago) and still no reply!

They are quick to take your money but they’re not accountable for any type of claims filed.

One month processing

I bought Generali insurance offered through flight network... I have a month tomorrow since I submit a claim and nothing happened.Years ago I had a claim with other insurer and they processed in less than a week directly PayPal...well day 31 they processed more likely due to this review.

Travel insurance couldn’t been more easy to get than Generali. Just answer the easy questions and click on the coverage plan you like. Prices were cheaper than other companies that I looked into. I always choose Generali whenever I need travel insurance.

Medical issue

I was unable to travel at the last minute because of an unforeseen medical issue. I placed a claim and uploaded the required documents. I was told a doctor’s note was not satisfactory and needed to submit a physicians statement which I did both on their website and via email. They then finalized my claim with no further explanation. I cannot now get either phone or email response to my questions. Generali promptly processed my claim and forwarded payment after I gave them a one star review on Trustpilot. I question why the same prompt service was not available initially.

All went as expected... except...

All went as expected... however, I did not get a clear answer to a simple question, when I called the customer service desk, about my benefits. I wanted to confirm that my plan covers my backpacking trip in Nepal when the trail that I will be on will go on a pass that is about 5100 meters in elevation. I still don't know the answer. I think I am covered, but I wanted confirmation.

You do not respond to emails

You do not respond to emails. You do not pay agreed claims in an efficient manner. I have been mislead by several of your agents over the past 6 months on when I would get paid. I have been waiting since May 2023 for an agreed payment, having had 2 cheques cancelled due to non-receipt and a third one now pending. It is ridiculous that you do not pay a claim electronically.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. Filed a claim in September. It was approved. It’s now December and I have yet to receive my money. Each time I call I speak with someone new and each time a different story. One minute I’m told a check was sent in the mail, then the next I’m told it was sent via Zelle. There’s no consistency and I can’t get anyone on the phone who can actually get anything done despite leaving numerous messages and emails. I was told last that a check was sent on Nov 7. Here we are over a month later and still nothing. Meanwhile my claim officer returns no calls, his supervisor— the same. Leaving emails is useless and their portal operates as a bot with no actual human response. Trust in this company is non existent and I would suggest thinking twice before purchasing travel insurance with them.

First Time to Use a Trip Insurance Policy

My husband and I purchased trip insurance for a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Ten days before our departure, my husband was diagnosed with a medical condition that made traveling impossible. We submitted all the required paperwork and waited. Honestly, we expected to have to fight to have the policy pay for our non-refundable trip expenses. Two weeks later, we have received an email saying or claim was accepted. We are so relieved. Highly recommend!

Fantastic first experience
