Learn what's required for your Real Estate License in Tennessee

This real estate licensing information summarizes the minimum requirements established by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. We recommend you contact the Tennessee Real Estate Commission for more detailed information or changes.

Tennessee Real Estate License: All

Total Hours Required: 16

Mandatory Hours: 6

Elective Hours: 10

Renewal Cycle in Years: 2

Education Cycle in Months: 24

Tennessee Real Estate Affiliate Brokers and Brokers are required to take 16 continuing education hours every 24 months. The TREC Core Course is a specific 6- hour course designated by the Commission. Licensees should remember that a failure to complete the TREC Core Course will prevent renewal of the license even if the licensee completes a total of 16 hours of education. 

NOTE: Pre-license courses may not be used for continuing education.

NOTE: The Commission could increase the number of hours in the required Core Course.

Limitations

There are no limits on the number of CE hours allowed to be taken online.

Roster Required: yes

Roster Process: Rosters are submitted to CE Broker (Tennessee's official CE tracking system) every Thursday.

During high volume periods, such as near renewal deadlines, they will be submitted daily.**If you need or want the roster submitted earlier than the scheduled date, there is a $10 rush fee for that service.**
