In July, I gratefully received a generous PR package from COSRX – if you’re are a Korean skin care enthusiast like myself, you can appreciate how big of a deal this was to me. I doubt COSRX needs much of an introduction, especially considering how even those who don’t regularly use K-Beauty are familiar with COSRX – usually because of the brand’s “lifesaving” pimple patches. COSRX have many serums which serve all sorts of purposes, however one of their newest of 3 serums belonging to their Real Fit line is well recognised as it was snatched-up on the day of launch. So what has lead to this serum’s popularity? – One factor is that COSRX discontinued their much loved Triple C Lightening Liquid as of July 2020, which means the new COSRX Real Fit Vitamin C Serum C 23 most likely was an intentional upgrade and replacement to the Triple C Lightening liquid. Secondly, perhaps just an interesting point for British K-beauty enthusiasts, this new Vitamin C Serum contains 57.5% British sourced Propolis extract which hasn’t been diluted with purified water. This means that 99% pure raw material from DSM.Inc UK, has been used to produce the serum’s richly nourishing formula. Furthermore, the Vitamin C 23 Serum contains a higher percentage of Vitamin C than their last Vitamin C serum; it contains 23% whereas the previous contained just 10%. 2,000 bottles were sold during the initial launch which resulted in the serum being sold out on the first day. Immediately this called for a restock with customers being placed on a waiting list. As of today (01/09/2020), the serum is once again out of stock. My experience with the Vitamin C Serum C 23: Just a like the Vitamin E Serum from the same Real Fit line, this Vitamin C serum has a texture which resembles a blend of oil and serum. It other words it doesn’t have a glycerin or Glycol texture that serum’s typically have, but it’s not greasy like an oil. It’s fairly runny in viscosity put soaks in rapidly enough even for anyone who is rushed for time. I can see how this serum is inclusive of all skin types, because it provides a sufficient amount of moisture without heaviness – leaving minimal residue but isn’t totally undetectable after application. I would say that if you have combination or oily skin, then one pipette full of this serum is enough for you. Otherwise dry and normal skin types would benefit from 1½ ~ 2 pipettes full of the serum, depending on the climate or how drying your face cleanser is. After around 2 weeks of use every morning, this serum helped fade a blemish that I had on one side of my face which had stuck around way past its welcoming for a couple of months or more. I also noticed how the redness around my nostrils and dark circles gradually became less prominent with each use.
